Sun 19th March: Melon Basket Workshop with local natural materials
10-3pm at the Margaret River Community Centre, $50pp
In this new workshop, you will be using twine weaving technique to create an oval- shaped artistic basket with a handle. We will be using local natural materials as much as possible eg. flexible vines/branches, dried arum lilly and watsonia, grasses, raffia… Only a few places for this one!
Tues 21st March, HARMONY DAY: Uthando Project, making dolls for disadvantaged children and women in Africa

This project is a lovely creative way to send care and support to children, families and communities in Africa. The sewn/knitted dolls are sent to 5 charities in Africa and distributed to many children and women who use these dolls for trauma therapy and to improve communication. And some dolls are just used to play with! Kits, patterns, ideas will be shared at this intro workshop and fundraising kits will be available for purchase.

Mental Health First Aid Course Feb 2017
This is a 2-day course that teaches adults first aid skills in order to give initial help to adults experiencing mental health problems, in a mental health crisis situation or in the early stages of a mental illness.
The training is an educational course, focusing on improving knowledge, understanding and recognition of mental health issues, along with developing skills and sharing resources to support someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. It will teach the ‘first aid’ or emergency care skills that can assist until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.
The course is free to family carers.

Volunteers will be gathering next week at the Margaret River Community Centre to pack Christmas hampers, under the Lottery West Emergency Relief funded program.

Cowaramup artist Dea Haddow has just completed her biggest artwork ever – an art fence featuring works created by children attending the Margaret River Community Centre for Children.
Dea ran workshops with the children, who created drawings of local flora and fauna as part of the project.
The drawings were then collated, sketched, projected onto the fence and painted by Dea in a labour-intensive process over several months.
Creative Natures was funded with a $3416 grant from Community Arts Network WA’s Catalyst Community Arts Fund as part of the centre’s recent expansion.
